Objectives
          Students should demonstrate to know the fundamentals of Portuguese cultural heritage law, be able to solve some real-world cases and be familiar with some comparative law approaches.
Program
          1 .  Heritage law. Preliminary concepts.
    - Cultural Heritage law
    - Cultural Heritage law and other branches of law 
2 . Overall evolution of the concept and standards for heritage from the 19th century to present. 
3 . An overview of the evolution of the Portuguese legal framework
    - the 1712 chart
    - the end of monarchy
    - the law during the Firts Republic, the "Estado Novo" and the Third Republic
4 . The Public Administration with jurisdiction over cultural heritage
5 . Major lines of the present Portuguese legal framework for cultural heritage 
  Within the framework of the:
  a) Portuguese law
    - constitutional provisions
    - the law nº102/2001 of 8 September
    - other legislations
  b) Internacional
  c) At Community level  
6. The patronage system
7. The professional status of the conservators/restorers.
Evaluation Methodology
          Written assessment: 
a) mid-term test. A mark of 10/20 exempt students from taking final exam
b) final exam with minimum pass mark of 10/20
