Objectives
On completion of this unit students should be able to read and design electricity and gas network projects for new residential developments, be able to integrate microgeneration in buildings and have enhanced their analysis and interdisciplinary skills.
Program
Electricity distribution networks: standards, transformer stations, cables, boards, grounding, protection, design. Telecommunications infrastructure in allotments and housing estates: standards, symbology, installation, materials, design. Microgeneration: sources, technologies, design. Gas facilities: materials, equipment, cutting and setting, implementation, breakdowns, design.
Evaluation Methodology
Practical assignments (50%) and written exam (50%).
