Objectives
Students should become familiar with the design and selection of clutches, brakes, sliding bearings, ball bearings, belt drive components, chain drive components, gear drive components, gear trains.

Program
1. Clutches and Brakes:
1.1. Brakes and clutches classification;
1.2. Check brakes and clutches;
1.3. Project brakes and clutches;
1.4. Special cases.
2. bearings of slipping:
2.1. Design considerations;
2.2. Relationships between variables;
2.3. Clearance;
2.4. Materials and shipments;
2.5. Types of bearings.
3. rolling bearings:
3.1. Bearing type
3.2. Bearing life;
3.3. Capacity;
3.4. Selection of ball bearings and cylindrical roller;
3.5. Check tapered roller bearings;
3.6. Lubrication, sealing and construction details.
4. Mechanical transmissions :)
4.1. Principles for choosing mechanical transmissions;
4.2. Comparative analysis of different types of mechanical transmission;
5. Transmissions belts:
5.1. General and geometry;
5.2. Selecting the transmission;
5.3. Constructive detail and assembly;
5.4. Flat and V-belts.
6. Transmissions chains:
6.1. General, nomenclature and geometric relationships;
6.2. Selecting the transmission;
6.3. Installation and service of transmissions roller chain;
6.4. Current requests analysis.
7. Gears:
7.1. Cylindrical gear spur;
7.2. Cylindrical wheel set teeth;
7.3. Toothed correction;
7.4. Bevel gears.
7.5. Calculation of cylindrical gear wheels for the general mechanics.

Evaluation Methodology
Students are assessed, one of the four evaluation periods established by the institution through written tests. The written test will take a minimum of 9.5 for approval.

Teaching Method
Theoretical classes describes and illustrates the application of fundamental principles. Theoretical and practical classes are propose solving practical cases.
