Objectives
Students should be able to identify and contextualise Portuguese contemporary art movements as well as the major artists of this period. They should view the work of art as an object of an artistic, aesthetical and historical nature.

3 - Futurism in Portugal
4 - Amadeu de Sousa Cardoso (works, themes and styles)
5 - Eduardo Viana
6 - The Twenties
7 - The Thirties and the birth of the "Estado Novo"
8 - Vieira da Silva: "perspective as an abstraction" versus "abstraction as a perspective"
9 - Sculpture(1850-1950)
10- The Portuguese architecture in the 20th cent

Evaluation Methodology
Continuous assessment: a mid-term test + a practical essay on a theme of their choice to be selected among the themes dealt with in class (oral presentation included).
Final assessment:written examination
