Objectives
Students should be able to contextualise art movements across the Middle Ages and Modern Times and understand the aesthetical and stylistic evolution of Portuguese art during that period as well as identify the most illustrative artworks and artists.
Program
The transition from the Gothic to the Manueline.
The Renaissance in Portugal. The new architectural spatiality. Sculpture. Painting. The Mannerism. The hostorical-cultural context of the new aesthetics. The anti-classical movement. The Contra-maniera. Architecture, sculpture and painting.
Evaluation Methodology
Continuous assessment: two mid-term tests (minimum pass mark:10/20 with a minimum mark of 7,5 in each test.
Final exam for students failing in continuous assessment (minimum pass mark:10/20).
