Objectives
An overview of the history of aesthetic thought from early Modernism to the beginning of the 21st century. The various artistic and cultural currents across time. Possible insights into aesthetic thought.

Program
Kant and the Individual. An aesthetics of the individual-speculative analysis. Positivism and the aesthetics of the object. The aesthetic object. The object, the artistic object and the artwork. The concept of artwork. Some problems of modern and contemporary aesthetics. Modernity, progress and obsolescence. Illuminism and dialetics in early 20th century. Modernity and Modernism.

Evaluation Methodology
Continuous assessment: students' assiduity and an individual assignment on a topic or author at the lecturer's discretion (50%); a written test (50%)
Final assessment: students are exempted from exam if they obtain a minimum of 10/20 grade points
