Objectives
The students are expected to be able to use Windows 2003/08 Server and Linux operating systems and have a good command of their main applications as well as properly install and configure these operating systems.
Program
1. An Introduction to Operating Systems;
2. Basic functions of an OS;
3. Process management and scheduling;
4. Memory management;
5. Synchronization and inter-process communication;
6. Operating System Windows 2003/2008 Server; Linux Operating System; User and computer management; Group management; Security; Administration and monitoring of a server;
Evaluation Methodology
- Theoretical assessment - 40%, with a minimum mark of 8/20.
- Practical assessment - 40%, with a minimum mark of 10/20. Average of the lab assignments, each with a minimum mark of 8/20.
