Prerequisites
Mechanics and Waves; Applied Mechanics;Mechanics of Materials I; Mechanical Behaviour of Materials.

Objectives
Students should learn how to determine beam stresses and deflections, articulated structures and columns using simplified methods, energy methods and finite element methods.

Program
Stress and deflection analysis; calculus of beam deflection by integration; energy methods; columns;finite element method

Evaluation Methodology
Assessment comprises written tests (80%), a report and respective oral defense and practical assignment (20%).

Written assessment includes tests and/or exams.
A minimum mark of 7.5 in the written part is required to pass.
