Objectives
To learn and develop basic knowledge of Chemistry principles relevant to other modules in the programme. Stimulate the study of chemistry and show their significance to Industry and Society. The students should be able to solve basic problems of chemistry and perform simple laboratory tasks.
Program
1.Basic tools of chemistry. Atoms, molecules and ions. Chemical
reactions and stoichiometry; 2. Chemical bonding and states of
matter. Gases. Intermolecular forces, liquids and solids. Polymers; 3. Chemical equilibrium. Acid Base equilibrium. 4. Electrochemistry. Redox reactions. Introduction to corrosion.
