Objectives
At the end of the course the students should be familiar with the special
characteristics of the health care sector. They should be able to
discuss about the main policies in the health sector as well as to
apply economic analysis to treat specific questions.

Program
Basics of demand and supply in the health sector.
Application of the concepts of risk and uncertainty to insurance
demand. Evaluation, funding and regulation of health systems.
Comparative analysis of the Portuguese health system.

Evaluation Methodology
Students can choose between: a) Continuous assessment:
individual mid-term tests with minimum arithmetic average of 10
grade points. b) Final exam: A minimum of 10 grade points.
